The following is an archival transcript of the text of the patented Radio Fever Two Minute Record Review of the band Cinecyde's "Like A UFO." It was written by erstwhile (that's a fancy word for former) Radio Fever co-host Sassy.
Over the next few weeks, we'll be digging through a crate of dusty, year-old typewriter paper and throwing random bits of Radio Fever hotstory up on the interweb for all eyes to enjoy and for future historians to examine. We hope you "dig it."

Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Mongtomery Warren’s parents found a note pinned to a Howdy Doody pull-string doll in his little sister’s bedroom. It was the last they heard from precocious little Monty. He was 11. The year was 1959. This is what it said.

"I will not eat my broccoli. I refuse. Nor will I eat my spinach. I know what you people are trying to do to me and while your Kiwanis and Daughters of the American Revolution facades may be benign, I’ve found out the ugly, sinister truth about your so-called “beta-carotene.” You can’t hide what you truly are. At night, after my dear sister Barbara is asleep – and you think that I am, too – I sneak to my window and see the glow and the flashes coming from quote-unquote father’s woodshed. Ha!
I tried talking to Barbara, but she’s too far gone, too indoctrinated by your rituals of extraterrestrial experimentation to see the forest for the trees. Yes, I said it! This is the last you’ll hear from me. By the time you read this I’ll be long gone, headed for the Air Force base at Roswell where I know they’ll take the necessary measures to expose your cruel machinations to the world. And you will be forced to reveal your true nature, no doubt on the Jack Parr program or some such televised venue where the veracity of your alien nature is irrefutable to the naked eye.
Your plot is foiled Herbert and Miriam – or whatever your real name is! And you’ll never know what else I’ve seen! The truth shall overcome!!!"

cuz, you know. We're on a roll. Two posts in less than a week? Unprecedented.
Whilst still in recovery mode from the bestest show ever by four pushing-50 English dudes (aka the Gang of Four throwdown at the Majestic), Sass-quatch and Le Wolf hosted a bona fide Dance Party complete with "Snowball" jams as well as the non-sequitor "couples skate."
This coming week we'll be opening up the Mailbag and playing jams (or at least partial jams if the gong gets busted out) by bands that sent us their rekkids. Should be good for some shamrocks 'n' shenanigans. Tune in, won't you?

See, we're not playing them on the show tonite cuz we figure if you haven't been paying attention to the last, oh, six weeks when we've been shamelessly playing tracks off this record, you just don't get to hear it on the consumer-approved date. "Greg,

If I may, I would like to respond to the preceding messages brought to us by Thunderbirds are Now in a three-fold manner:

Firstly: Oh, my gawd, Becky. Did you see the lead singer-uh?! He’ssss sssoooou cyoott. I mean, it’s pretty artsy…but what-ever-uh…the hair and the jumping and the –heavy breathing here.

Secondly: You know, I’m a firm believer in at least using the words angular at least once in conversation every day, just so that it doesn’t become some kind of hary old rock-crit cliché like, oh, say, “oblique lyrics” or “DIY production values” or “a wash of__insert your stringed instrument here.”
And it’s bands like Thunderbirds are Now that help that. Except, in their case, it’s more like “punctured” instead of “angular where the metaphor is a straight line and the guitar sounds in question are meant ot interrupt the straight line at an acute angle, hence, angular. TAN are more like um, some other metaphor or something.
It’s like a scavenger hunt: Angular, spazzy (or a variation threof0, hyper-kinetic, ADD-addled, hell, anything-addled. Let’s all play.

So, we found out first-hand that it's extremely difficult to blog (someone think of another verb -- stat!) and do a radio show at the same time last night, otherwise, we'd have delivered the disheartening news simultaneously to the airwaves and the interwebs that the much-beloved Detroit City Council -- Tom, Mike, Dum, Black, Nougat, Peanut, et. al -- have decided to call it a night.
We invite you to share your favorite DCC moments here in the Blogosphere.
We'll always have the white-suit-wearin' vision of Potterific nastiness to keep us company as we chase our Maker's Mark with Stroh's and we'll always have the momeories of the most crowded Fever studio to date -- over flowing with funkeriffic goodness and featuring the soothing sounds of Black intoning "PUT THE GUNS DOWN, CHIRREN!!!"

We feel safe with you on one end of the beam and us on the other. It'd be better if we were all riding in a car together, with the Wolf and I just handing you tapes all cued up to put in the tape deck, but we don't have that kind of physics just yet on this planet. C'est Le guerre.

Still, the show this week'll be totally deck, but in a flippity-flop way, you know what I'm sayin' scratchtastic spatula? werd.

We'll review the Troy Gregory & the Stepsisters jams and play a boatload of other stuff, too. Plus, Greg and I have been reading our Physics for Poets books and our minds are more blown than when we played Wizardry for 12 hours straight back in '86 with nothing but Like Cola (we hearted Like) and Funyons for fuel.

So, like, I'm totally detoxing right now. Like, purification style. Nothing new for me, I do it every year just before I go on the bender to end all benders that is "The Holiday Season." So many free drinks, so little sleeping time, so much chocolate. Hot damn I love the holidays!
If it weren't for this show, I'd have nothing to rein me in. Nothing to keep me from achieving total "party" bliss. Screw Sassy & the Wolf, I say. But my dad will stop sending the checks if I don't keep this "internship." blahblahblah. Only two more years till I get a sweet gig "working" at his company. Then it's all liquid lunch all the time. Sorry for the multiplicity of posts, but we felt compelled to let you know that in no way do we believe that our recent conjuring of the Red Dwarf -- or Nain Rouge -- on recent broadcasts had anything to do with the recent melee at the Palace. While the White Stripes' recent interview in a London newspaper may have stirred the little fella, our cryptozooligical opinion is that we're not sure he's allowed outside the city limits. If you have any confirming evidence of the Nain Rouge's role in this event let us know.

Wigglz took a well-needed "sabbatical" for a week (we saw him leaving the Bouzouki at 3 a.m, headed for the Greektown Casino buffet no doubt. Rest up, fair intern, for tomorrow we work thee).
Anyhoo, I, Sassy, will try not to use any "big words" that I learned in "writing school." That is my solemn promise. (Solemn? It means serious and thoughful, reverent. Oh, hell, just try to keep up). I enjoyed a soujourn -- strike that -- vacation to Chicago, taken under the mistaken impression that some sort of Million Rocker March was to take place on the House of Blues (opening Nov. '05 in Detroit. What?!). Thanks, Wolf! Really fuckin' funny. Joke's on you, though. My hotel bill was charged to your corporate credit card. How you like them apples -- Skylaaahh!!!
You know where I was when you were "working" on the show? 95th floor of the Hancock Building, drinking martinis on that same credit card. How I suffer for our art.

That's the memo that was attached to this e-mail from the doofi that keep me in servitude (aka Sassy & the Wolf). They can feed me free pizza till I puke and I still won't get over the fact that Chris made me wash the bird crap off his LeSabre in 40-degree weather (on a Sunday!).
Still, I gotta hand it to them, they put on a "show" on Saturday. Freddy Fortune was "on" as usual and how about "Dick Valentine" promising to do a "Century Club" onstage during the E6 show on the 26th? Damn. That's hardcore, yo. Dick be hangin'.

Chris and Greg also wanted me to tellz ya that they'll be making me archive their "2-Minute Record Reviews" for your "reading pleasure". Yeah, they seem to think that I'm impressed with their writing ability. Let's not forget that I also interned at Interview and Vanity Fair (as well as an ill-fated, but nonetheless-exciting stint with "The Splendid Table" on National Public Radio. Mmmmm...schweaty balls).

I swear to 7-11 that this will be a more frequent thing (at least once with the damn playlists 'n' crap).
We were hungover on Saturday -- at least Greggers was (congrats Dave). Sassy was overcaffeinated and managed thankfully to catch the Ashlee Simpson shenanigans (thank you coffee jitters).

Dear Radio Fever Faithful,

While we usually use the Interweb only to fuel our, shall we say, unconventional musings, it has come to our attention that you deserve more of us than our normal Saturday, 8-11 p.m. timeslot on 97.1 FM will allow. In the spirit of giving more than we have to give, leaving it all on the court, taking one for the team and otherwise "digging deep," we will now share our innermost children with you right here in Radio Feverland.
Seriously.
Did you know that Greg, er, the Wolf had four wheels stolen off his car this week? It sucked. he did.
Did you know that Sassy (Chris) got chewed out by his project manager at work for not turning around client comments in time for a Friday review? It sucked. He did.
Personally, I think Greg's misfortune is sexxxier, but who knows how many corporate procedure fetishists there are out there among you.
Radio Fever this week (7.17.04) will feature tales of petty crime and crackhead schemes, music about jail, being in jail, going to jail, new jams from Judah Johnson, a two-minute record review barrage on the Candy Band (see also, the "Rocker Mom" phenomenon) and a Hump it or Dump it of the mighty Uncle Kracker.
We'll talk to Mike Hentch about his pre-rock rituals and whether or not he should grow out his mustache again. The Hentch are releasing their new record "FormFollowsFunction" this Saturday at the Magic Bag in Ferndale. We'll be there in person for post-Fever libations. Join us, won't you?
